When I first joined White Rabbit Foundry as a Marketing Intern, I was excited but, definitely nervous. I knew I wanted to work in marketing, and I loved the creativity behind branding, storytelling, and social media, but I also knew I had a lot to learn. What I didn’t realise at the time was that this internship would shape not only my skills and confidence professionally, but also the way I see myself personally.

Almost a year later, I’ve grown from Marketing Intern to Marketing Associate, and I can honestly say the experience has pushed me further than I ever expected.

Learning By Doing

One of the biggest things I’ve learnt at White Rabbit Foundry is that marketing is so much more than posting on social media.

Before joining, I mostly saw marketing from the outside: content, visuals, captions. But working behind the scenes has shown me how much strategy, organisation, communication, and adaptability go into making all of that happen successfully.

Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects. From writing content and managing social media to helping create Substack articles, organising workflows, and researching trends across different platforms.

I’ve also become far more confident using Microsoft in a professional environment. Tools like Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Word have become part of my daily routine, and learning how to use them effectively has made me more organised and efficient in the way I work. It sounds simple, but understanding how teams actually communicate, present ideas, and manage projects professionally has been a huge help.

Being Pushed Out Of My Comfort Zone

If there’s one thing White Rabbit Foundry has taught me, it’s that growth usually happens outside of your comfort zone.

At the beginning, I was naturally quite hesitant. I would overthink things, second-guess myself, and worry about getting things wrong. But throughout my internship, I’ve continuously been encouraged to step forward, contribute ideas, and take ownership of projects.

One moment that really stands out to me was interviewing Victoria for a White Rabbit Foundry Substack piece about AI and modern FMCG marketing.

At first, the idea of interviewing someone professionally felt intimidating. I remember being worried about asking the wrong questions, sounding inexperienced, or not being confident enough to lead the conversation. But once I actually did it, I realised something important: confidence doesn’t appear before you do something scary, it comes afterwards.

That experience taught me so much about communication, preparation, and trusting myself. It also showed me how powerful conversations can be in marketing. Being able to help tell someone’s story in an authentic and engaging way was genuinely rewarding, and it made me realise how much I enjoy the human side of marketing.

Expanding My Experience With Streetly

Over the past three months, I’ve also had the opportunity to work with Streetly, an environmentally and socially friendly, zero-emissions delivery service, supporting their social media and digital channel presence.

Working with Streetly has been exciting because it’s given me experience working with a brand that has such a strong sustainability-focused mission. It’s taught me how important it is for brands to communicate clearly, consistently, and authentically.

Managing social content for another brand has also helped me become more adaptable creatively. Every company has a different voice, audience, and style, and learning how to adjust content and communication accordingly has helped me grow as a marketer.

It has also made me more confident in balancing multiple projects at once, something that felt overwhelming to me at the start of my internship.

More Than Just Marketing

What I didn’t expect from this experience was how much it would help me grow personally.

Over the past year, I’ve become more comfortable speaking up, sharing ideas, meeting new people, and trusting my abilities. I’ve learnt that it’s okay not to know everything immediately, and that asking questions is part of learning, not something to be embarrassed about.

I’ve also learnt that confidence is built through experience. Every task, meeting, article, or conversation slowly adds up, and eventually you realise you’re capable of far more than you thought.

Marketing is a fast-moving industry, and there’s always something new to learn. But that’s just one of the reasons I enjoy it so much. No two days are exactly the same, and every project challenges you to think differently and communicate better.

Looking Ahead

As I continue my journey at White Rabbit Foundry, I’m excited to keep learning, improving, and pushing myself further creatively and professionally.

This internship has given me more than just experience for my CV. It’s given me confidence, resilience, and a much clearer understanding of the kind of work I want to do in the future. And how the opportunities that scare you end up becoming the ones that help you grow the most.
